1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Resume Checker (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use resumechecker.app (the “Service”).

Primary safeguard: We enforce a strict 24-hour data destruction policy, permanently deleting the uploaded PDF, parsed text, and generated .docx exactly 24 hours after upload.

2. What We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

When you use the Service, you may provide:

  • Resume content uploaded as a PDF (which may include contact information, work history, education, and other personal information);
  • Optional notes or preferences you enter (if offered).

2.2 Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive limited payment-related information such as payment confirmation and transaction identifiers. We do not receive or store full card numbers.

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

We may collect:

  • Device and browser information;
  • IP address;
  • Pages viewed and actions taken;
  • Approximate location derived from IP address;
  • Advertising attribution data (where applicable).

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service;
  • Process payments and prevent fraud;
  • Generate your rewritten Resume output file;
  • Maintain security, logging, and troubleshooting;
  • Measure advertising performance and marketing attribution (where enabled);
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. 24-Hour Data Destruction

We permanently delete from our cloud servers:

  • The uploaded PDF;
  • Parsed/extracted text;
  • The final generated Word (.docx) file;

exactly 24 hours after upload. After deletion, recovery is not possible.

You are responsible for downloading your file before deletion.

5. AI Processing and OpenAI

We use the OpenAI API as a processor to analyze and rewrite Resume text. We configure our use of the OpenAI API to prohibit OpenAI from using user data to train AI models.

We do not permit OpenAI to use your content for training, and we use the API solely to deliver the Service.

6. Sharing and Disclosure

We may share information with:

  • Service providers (processors): such as cloud hosting, logging/monitoring, email delivery, and analytics providers, strictly to operate the Service;
  • Stripe: to process payments;
  • Advertising partners: such as Meta and TikTok for ad attribution/measurement (as described in the Cookie Policy);
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We do not sell personal information to data brokers.

7. “Do Not Sell or Share” (CCPA/CPRA) Statement

Resume Checker does not sell personal information to data brokers.
If our advertising pixels or analytics are considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under certain US state laws (including California), we provide choices through cookie controls and browser-level signals where supported.

8. US State Privacy Laws (Including CCPA/CPRA)

We aim to comply with applicable US state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and other state privacy laws that may apply to your data.

8.1 Your Rights (Where Applicable)

Depending on your location and the law, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how we use it;
  • Request access to personal information we hold about you;
  • Request deletion of personal information (noting our 24-hour auto-deletion policy);
  • Correct inaccurate personal information (to the extent applicable);
  • Opt out of “sale” or “sharing” (if applicable) related to advertising technologies.

8.2 How to Submit Requests

Email support@resumechecker.app with the subject line: “Privacy Request — Resume Checker”.
Because we delete uploaded documents and generated outputs automatically after 24 hours, we may be unable to locate or retrieve content after deletion.

We may need to verify your request using reasonable methods.

9. Canada Privacy (Including PIPEDA)

For users in Canada, we aim to handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy requirements, including PIPEDA (as applicable). You may request access to or correction of your personal information by contacting support@resumechecker.app.

10. Data Retention

  • Resume files and generated outputs: deleted exactly 24 hours after upload.
  • Operational records: we may retain limited logs, transaction records, and security data longer to operate the Service, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. These records are minimized and do not include the full contents of your Resume after deletion.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; you use the Service at your own risk.

12. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. International Data Transfers

We operate from New Zealand and may process information in New Zealand and other locations where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred and processed outside your state, province, or country.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy by posting a revised version on resumechecker.app and updating the “Last Updated” date.
